Foundation 101 (Max factor vs Rimmel)

Foundation is a thing that i definitely spend too much time on. Whenever i have spare time i scroll through every post on the internet too try and find a cheap in price but not in quality foundation. My everyday foundation is still not one I'm completely happy with, I do want too try some more but I think its a good starting point when your a student who wants too start wearing makeup properly (after you've been through that awkward orange face stage... come on, we've all been there, i even had the blue eye shadow too match.)

So before finding what i use now, Max factor, I used a LOT of Rimmel. Rimmel was the first foundation i wore (at about 13) and it worked for me whilst i was still trying too figure it all out. I'll explain how below.

This is the foundation i started with, Its match perfection by Rimmel in the shade '100, ivory'

So this is the foundation i started with as that little 13 year old. This is Match Perfection by Rimmel in the shade '100 Ivory.' This probably wasn't the first shade i worse as i can distinctly remember some embarrassing stories of 'fake tan gone wrong' BUT i finally discovered that this was in fact my shade.

So this foundation I would just apply with my fingers, it's a very thin consistency and very light on the face. It doesn't have great coverage but it is build-able. This foundation isn't one for long wearing as it would usually be mostly gone by the time I was home and could be sweated off quite easily (for example in PE.) Despite that it is definitely one i enjoyed using and would go back too as a short term thing whilst i waited too get the one I usually wear.

As it was quite light and not over powering it allows

you too keep it simple as a nice 'everyday makeup

look and very natural OR you can really build up your features

with the foundation as a light base and bronzer, blusher

and highlighter as your main tools. This foundation

can be brought at most drugstores and usually sells

for £7.99 which is amazing for what it is and a very

affordable decent option.

So this is the foundation i wear now, it's FACE FINITY All Day Flawless by Max Factor in the shade 'Warm almond 45.' What drew me too this foundation originally was the fact it offers 'primer, concealer and foundation in one' and do you know what - it really does. Starting with this packaging it could easily pass as a high brand foundation. The foundation itself offers quite a matt look and leaves no shine or grease. If topped with a lose powder it can easily last all day. You can choose too use bronzer, highlight and blusher with this, i do, however i don't feel that it's necessary. It's quite a strong high coverage foundation on its own so adding bronzer etc will not allow you a subtle look. I cant recommend this foundation as an affordable drugstore foundation enough at only £12.99 it really does offer everything you need.

In terms of its downfalls there really aren't many however it does come out of the bottle quite thick, that does not translate on your face though so don't worry about that. Its quite a creamy texture too allow full coverage rather than a very liquid-y one. I'm also going too review the brush i use too apply it below because it really does make a difference, this is not a foundation that i'd recommend applying with your fingers.

So this is the flat foundation brush by ecotools and it sells at drugstores for about £7.99 however if you order it from their own website then it only costs £5.24. What i love about this product and the company itself is that they're completely eco-friendly. Here's what they had too say on their website;

  • EcoTools Cosmetic Brushes are made with cruelty free synthetic bristles, sustainable bamboo handles & recycled aluminum ferrules.

  • Our reusable eco pouch is made with natural materials and EVA. EVA is free of phthalates and PVC.

  • EcoTools paper packaging is made from 80% Recycled and 100% Recyclable Paper.

I absolutely love this brush, its very soft and gentle so is perfect for people with sensitive skin and it doesn't absorb product. The only thing i'd say is that the bristles can become slightly sticky if you don't wash it often which can leave you at risk of streaky marks so it's important too wash the product. Other then that it gives great coverage, is easy too blend with and i use it for my setting powder as well.

Okay so i'm going too leave you with a quick comparison of the two foundations below as a handy guide for you too refer too when picking between the two.

I understand this is very small and hard too see but I couldn't work out how to get it bigger so I recommended downloading it and enlarging it to your own pleasure.
